BAMBINI WANTED IN ITALY!!!! Things to do with kids in and around Anguillara Sabazia (Rome). I can’t keep this secret to myself any longer! So let me share with you a little hidden treasure that not many visitors to Italy know about: Anguillara Sabazia.

Anguillara is in my blood and has been for generations. It is one of the great escapes from the hustle and bustle of Rome, less than 30km away. Nestled on a small promontory on the shores of lake Bracciano with its medieval historical centre: a little treasure with cobbled alleys full of character. There is a lovely promenade along the lake where one can enjoy a gentle stroll whilst eating Italian ice cream from the many gelaterie. It’s paradise for kids! with all the water activities: swimming, canoeing, stand up paddling, acqua inflatables. Horse riding is available too.

During the summer months, you shouldn’t miss a “sagra”: are village feast celebrating delicious local specialties, music and entertainment including funfairs and fun stalls. A drive around the lake takes to the town of Bracciano, famous for its Odescalchi Castle. On particular days, kings and princesses of days gone by await the children, to play together, tell stories and plunge them into the wonderful world of history and imagination. They can experience a unique and once in a lifetime journey through history and legend, meet legendary characters: The King of the Lake, Princess Artemisia and many more with whom to relive the ancient legends of the Lake and Castle. Along the way, visit the Italian Air Force Museum of Vigna di Valle. Children and adults alike will be in awe of its excellent collection showing the history of aviation. Entrance is free. If you can ever be tired of seeing the many Etruscan and Roman ancient sites in the area, then it’s time to relax in The Valle del Treja natural park. A cool forest with the meandering river that cascades into a small waterfall. “This regional park offers the Treja Park Adventure. A new and exciting way to experience nature. Here kids can have some real fun and an unforgettable experience. The park is full of adventure paths constructed with wooden platforms hanging from trees where you need skills such as equilibrium, coordination, and adventure to pass. Another activity that may be of interest is archery. The park has an archery school where one can increase archery skills and where you can later test them through a fun route. After the kids are happily worn out, take them down the hill for a swim in the river and Monte Gelato waterfalls and enjoy a delicious picnic to close the day.
